A Part Time Legal Secretary is required to work as part of a highly motivated secretarial team providing professional, proactive secretarial support to the fee earners of a Dispute Resolution Team. Job Description
You will produce and amend documents with speed and accuracy, proof reading all work, and checking spelling and grammar. The role demands excellent secretarial skills, including diary management using MS Outlook and the ability to work with a minimum of supervision on a wide range of tasks and projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Typing correspondence, and attendance notes and collating enclosures for letters.
- Managing diaries (including sometimes agreeing court dates).
- Preparing materials for marketing events and client training using the Microsoft product suite.
- A majority of the administration on files (such as paying counsel/experts) including co-ordination of team meetings and team training sessions.
- Rationalising and filing correspondence and other documents.
- Sharing collective responsibility for prompt answering of telephones including client calls: "screening" prospective clients, completing client intake sheet and completing conflict check before passing to lawyers, and fielding existing client calls.
- Setting up, maintaining and archiving files.
- Document production including documents required for Court proceedings
- Attending events to greet clients.
- Assisting lawyers with all financial matters, including disbursements, and draft bill preparation.
- Obtaining client ID and compliance with money laundering regulations.
- Assisting with compliance with Lexcel, and other quality standards.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have previous legal secretarial experience, with accurate audio typing and copy typing ability. A working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint is required, together with excellent knowledge of Outlook, and Microsoft Word.
You will also have a GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and a relevant secretarial qualification such as the ILEX certificate / diploma.
